Our carbon footprint

IngSoft reduces greenhouse gas emissions

Measurable aspirations

We care about our planet. We do not only develop software to help other companies in their efforts to be energy efficient and carbon neutral. We ourselves also joined the "Turn to zero" initiative years ago and are improving our own greenhouse gas balance year after year. We communicate the results transparently in an annual report.

Greenhouse gases

Our greenhouse gas balance report takes into account the six greenhouse gases that are harmful to the atmosphere and defined by the internationally applicable Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHGP): carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), and nitrous oxide (N2O), as well as the fluorinated greenhouse gases (F-gases): hydrogen-containing hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), perfluorocarbons (PFCs), and sulfur hexafluoride (SF6). Since 2015, nitrogen trifluoride (NF3) has also been added.

They are converted to the unit of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) using the appropriate factor, normalised according to the GWP-values (global warming potential) and presented in the unit of measurement t CO2e.

Scopes 1, 2, and 3

In accordance with the GHG-Protocol, the emissions shown in the report are differentiated according to Scope 1 (direct emissions), Scope 2 (indirect emissions) and Scope 3 (indirect emissions from corporate processes or consumer goods).

Our greenhouse gas balance

In 2020, IngSoft emitted a total of 23.6 t CO₂e of greenhouse gases. Fortunately, this is around a third less than in the year before, when the result was 35.2 t CO₂e. In 2020, indirect emissions (Scope 3) - including capital goods and employee travel - again made up the largest share.
